AdGridWork: free advertising
While I was writing Free traffic for your blog I discovered another source of free traffic through free advertising, AdGridWork. Since they promise a lot of traffic, I wanted to give it a shot. Let’s see what it’s all about.
How it works?
The registration is free. You will configure a text banner (which is very easy) and it will be displayed on other sites/blogs from AdGridWork network. All you have to do to configure your ad is to complete a form with your site/blog/product details.

This is how your banner or text link will looks like:

You have free metrics and tracking tools providing detailed information on the users viewing your advertisements and websites. On these statistics you can see:
Site Requests - This indicates the number of times that your website has requested an ad block from our servers. It also corresponds to the number of page views your site has received.
Impressions - This field indicates the number of times that your website advertisement has appeared on other user’s sites.
Conversions - This indicates the number of times that your advertisement has been clicked on another user’s site. The more conversions, the better targeted the ads are.
CTR - Click Through Rate - The CTR simply indicates the ratio of Conversions to Impressions.
Clicks - The Click field indicates how many times someone has clicked an ad on your site.
As you can see, it’s pretty easy to configure your ads.
More than this, the latest version of AdSense Manager plugin include support for AdGridWork, so it will be easier for you to place AdGridWork ads on your blog.
Advantages
1. It’s free advertising.
2. AdGridWork have thousands of sites in their network, so your banner will be displayed a lot of times.
3. Your products/blogs will be promoted to a targeted audience: you can choose the type of sites where you want your ads to be placed.
4. They provide from time to time free coupons and vouchers which will allow you to get free PPC clicks on major networks such as Google, Yahoo and MSN for little or no deposit at all.
Disadvantages
1. The ads don’t look very nice, though they are simple and fresh. But in my opinion, an ad must kick your eyes in order to be clicked.
2. Even if there are thousands of sites in the AdGridNetwork, most of them display ads in the bottom of the pages, where the CTR is very low. So, in about 2 months, our statistics shows like this:
- your sites have been requested a total of 38,918 times
- your ads have been displayed a total of 71,239 times
- your sites have generated a total of 101 conversions
- your ads have been clicked on a total of 30 times
Let me translate, to make the things clear:
- The AdGridWork ads was displayed on our blog for 38,918 times (though sitemeter shows 25,778 page views, but it’s normal to be some differences in these metrics)
- Our ad was displayed on other sites for about 71,239 times;
- We received 101 visits through AdGridWork ads.
- We send 30 visits through AdGridWork ads displayed on our blog.
According to these statistics, CTR is 0.14%.
Conclusions
Even if the CTR is pretty low, it’s still free advertising and people who click on your ads are interested in what you have to offer, compared to Entrecard, where most of the people visit your blog/site just to leave a credit. So, if you have some empty space on your blog, why to waste it and not to convert in some visits instead?

Rather than giving up my real estate to an ad network that gives me 0.14 CTR and still I am not sure if the person coming in would be potential reader, I would prefer to give the real estate to Entrecard, where at least many of them like me, prefer to read the blogs and become regular visitors to blogs they found on Entrecard. And Entrecard conversion is much better than these kind of networks I think. Ofcourse, it’s my opinion though.
Life is Colourful’s last blog post..Why This Sudden Downfall in Technorati Rank?
We have both Entrecard and AdGridWork in our sidebar, but I cannot tell what traffic converts better. But most of the Entrecarder just drop their credits (this increases the Alexa rank though) whatever your blog is about, since through AdGridWork the visits are more targeted. But even if the traffic from these networks doesn’t convert too well, it helps to increase the Alexa and to get known and it’s helpful for a blog at its startup.
So basically if we see them from a bird eye view, both are at the same levels. I don’t know why I am in favor of Entrecard, but may be because I have seen myself getting addicted to many same niche blogs around.
