Entrecard

I don’t imagine that there are bloogers who haven’t heard about Entrecard. But if there is someone who has just started a blog and wonders how to drive free traffic, then this review might be interesting for him/her.

Entrecard is a new revolutionary way to advertise for free on other blogs. Free is a matter of speaking, because you don’t have to pay with money, but with Entrecard credits. To earn these credits, you have to visits other blogs who have the Entrecard widget displayed and to leave your card. This takes some time and time is money, isn’t it?

Nevertheless, it’s free and it brings a lot of traffic to your blog.

How Entrecard works?

When you make an account, you have to give them a 125×125px ad. You can choose from 6 pre-defined Entrecard styles (you have to write only your text) or you can upload your own ad. If you have difficulties on choosing or making a 125×125 personalized ad, you can check our Project WonderFree, where we give you a lot of free 125×125 ads. Take a look at them:

Project WonderFree - Get Free Banners - Batch 1
Project WonderFree - Get Free Banners - Batch 2
Project WonderFree - Get Free Banners - Batch 3
Project WonderFree - Get Free Banners - Batch 4

After you make an account, you need to put a code on your blog. You can choose from three widget formats: 127×148 slim widget, 200×127 medium widget and 250×127 wide widget. You only need to choose one, but you can use as many different types as you wish if you have different places on different pages where you’d like your widget to be displayed.

Once the widget is on your blog, you are an Entrecarder :) Your ad will be displayed under the category you have chosen. This is how it’ll look like:

Entrecard

The text below your ad means:
Wait: 23 hours - If someone wants to advertise on your blog, her/his ad will be displayed on your blog after 23 hours;
Price: 52 ec/day - If someone wants to advertise on your blog, she/he must pay 52 Entrecard credits.

How are credits earned?
1. You earn 1 credit every time you drop your card for someone else.
2. You earn 1 credit every time someone else drops their card for you.
3. You earn credits every time someone advertises on your widget. You will receive 50% of the credit cost to advertise on your widget. That means if it costs someone 100 credits to run their card on your widget for a day, you will earn 50 credits per day when a card runs on your widget. The other 50% of the credits gets cleared from the system, to limit the growth of the economy. You will receive the credits for an ad that runs when it completes its run for a full 24 hours.

Of course, there are other ways, too, to earn Entrecard credits, for example, by buying them (you can find offers on many forums) or by participating to contests that give as prizes Entrecard credits. That leads us to EzMoneyOn.Net first contest where one of the prizes is 1000 Entrecard credits.

Once you choose where you want to advertise, your ad will be displayed for 24 hours.

There are two types of traffic:
1. People who visit your blog just to drop their card. You will see these visits on your stats coming from entrecard.com.
2. People who click on your ad on someone else’s widget. You will see these visits on your stats coming from entrecard.s3.amazonaws.com.

Entrecard tips

  1. Get an attractive ad. If you don’t have design skills, you can choose for free a 125×125 ad from the links above.
  2. Place your Entrecard widget in a prominent position. If you want people to advertise on your blog and to drop their card often, you must be sure they will find easy your Entrecard widget.
  3. Drop as many cards as you can. Once you drop a card on someone else widget, your ad will be displayed on her/his inbox and most probably she/he will visit your blog to drop her/his card. You can find sites with Entrecard widget under the Campaign tab or you can use Entrecard Browser, an online utility which allows you to surf the sites listed in Entrecard.
  4. Advertise wisely. There are more options to choose where to advertise.
    - You can choose to advertise on new and cheap sites. Generally the cost of having your ad on a new site is 2 credits. That way you can afford advertising on hundreds of sites. You can see the latest 30 sites which have joined Entrecard under the tab Campaign -> Recent.
    - You can choose to advertise on blogs on your niche. Should I explain why? Under the tab Campaign you will find all blogs grouped by categories. Try to choose those blogs which have some traffic. You can do this by checking their Alexa Traffic Rank or by checking their Compete statistics.
    - You can choose to advertise on blogs which have Entrecard widgets above the fold. Definitely you want your ad to be seen. You can find here a big list containing blogs with widget above the fold.
  5. Get yourself known. You can do that by dropping many cards, by writing recommendations for other sites, by posting in Entrecard forums.

Conclusion

If your blog is new, just launched or you have low traffic, Entrecard is a good way to drive traffic to your blog and to get known. You don’t have to work too hard for this and you can advertise on many high traffic blogs and in your niche blogs without spending any money. How cool is that?

It’s good way of exposure for your blog certainly. I started reading many more blogs picked from favorite categories in Entrecard. On the contrary, I have seen the bounce rate increased a little since Entrecard visitors started hopping the websites. No matter how good the blog content is, some Entrecard members are interested in just hopping the websites.
