I Want To Do SEO To My Blog

Get All The Traffic, Sales and Profits You Deserve - Virtual Business Builder Teams, Outsourcing

One of our readers sent me this message:

Hey, I want to do SEO to my blog, because everybody says it’s good and you cannot make money online without it, but I don’t know what SEO is and how to do it. I surely want to make money online as fast as possible, to be able to get myself out of debt.

This makes me think once more how many people just skip a lot of steps in their explanations, assuming that everybody has the basics, so they can easily follow up. This makes beginners’ life a hell. Somebody who is new to a field, is NEW: this means he has no clue, no basic notions, nothing, about that topic. Usually, tools like Wordpress, Blogger, text editors etc., come with some explanations, so even the beginners can learn how to use them in a relatively short time. However, knowing where the letters are on the keyboard doesn’t make me a writer. Nor the blogging tools knowledge makes me money online. I need to learn this skill, and in this respect, I see two ways:

Learn How To Make Money Online By Experimenting

This is how I started. I set up two blogs and I started to write about things that interested me, about things that I liked, or that I knew best. Then I noticed that some posts get more traffic than others. Then, my normal wish was to repeat the success and write only posts that receive good traffic. Looking at the stats, I saw that the search engines were sending me traffic for several keywords. A quick Google search led me to Wordtracker, where I discovered that I can get estimates of search traffic for different keywords.

The next step: I noticed that my AdSense earnings were bigger on some posts and almost zero on others, due to big variations of the CPC. This is how I discovered that some keywords were paying better than others. Coming back to Google search, I discovered Overture, ans then Symbiotics, two tools which were giving me estimates of the AdSense CPC for my keywords (none of these tools is still working today, but you still can use some others which I’ll talk about later).

At this point, I was already thinking that it would be better to have more than one blog, but focused on narrower topics. This idea came to me after I saw that the AdSense ads on blog posts about sleep troubles were displaying ads about hair removal. Another thing that was bothering me a lot was that most of the times, the ads were about blogging: that happened because I was using the word “blog” in my permalinks. This is how I started to study how ads are triggered and how keywords are selected, and I discovered a lot of SEO resources and theories. I tried them all and I measured the outcome. I kept what I found to be successful for me.

Then I noticed that if I change my AdSense ad blocks appearance and positioning, I get different CTR rates. I started tweaking them and I measured the outcome. After several attempts, I decided for the set up that brought me the highest CTR.

Learn How To Make Money Online By Taking Models

NLP modeling is a method or strategy of learning that occurs as a function of observing, retaining and replicating patterns of language and behavior observed in others. It is most often associated with the work of Richard Bandler and linguist John Grinder who implemented some of the seminal studies in the area and initiated Neuro-linguistic programming. (Wikipedia)

I’m a big fan of NLP and I think modeling can bring results. However, one has to be very careful what he chooses to model. To give you one example, if I hear that Donald Trump is eating caviar for breakfast, replicating this behaviour alone won’t make me rich (or in the worst case would cause me financial troubles, as caviar is not the cheapest breakfast of all). But if I choose to replicate his way of negotiating, his way of talking, his courage and tenacity, I might be able to become rich and famous myself.

If you are a beginner in internet marketing, I can point you to a place to start. There you’ll be able to see the roots of making money online, you’ll be able to decipher the mysteries of SEO and you’ll find detailed examples to study and replicate by yourself. This place is not mine (although I’d be glad if you decided to subscribe also to our feed, here, as we also share things from our money making experience). I’m talking about a blog which teaches how to make money online for beginners. The name says it all: beginners don’t have to spend one-two years of their lives experimenting things like I did. They can now get the same knowledge faster, by learning from Grizzly, the author of the blog. You’ll find out how to choose your keywords, how to write, how to implement AdSense to get the best results possible and how to do SEO to your blog.

After you go through all case studies, and after you’ll try some of your own, you will no longer be a beginner. Then, you could move to the next stage: learn advanced methods to make money online from Grizzly’s newest blog, Make money online with Grizzly. This blog is very new, but it won’t be new anymore by the time you’ll finish acquiring experience from the first blog I’ve told you about.

Last, but not least, don’t forget that action is the key to success: if you only read case studies and never find the time to develop your own, you’d better sleep all day long: the results will be the same, and making money online will remain a very nice dream that would keep you entertained while you sleep.

Good post. I was referred to Grizzly’s blog just yesterday. Even more experienced bloggers can pick up some ideas.

Starting out, it’s important to read as much as you can and to experiment and try different things as much as you can. It’s not always easy to find the information you need, so some trial and error is often required!

Yes, personal experience is very important. It is true that you can save some time learning from the more experienced people, but your own discoveries can many times be very valuable.

I remember those halcyon days back in 2004 when I broke the Google code and scored high in the SERPs for every lawyer-related term possible; ah, if only blogs had the tools back then that they do now! :)

    Enjoy, Barbara

That’s cool Barbara, you were great! Back in 2004 I still had no idea why people said Google was great - it seemed very hard to see what one can do with an almost empty page

Grizzly is good but sometimes I find Courtney Tuttle a bit clearer and more detailed in his explanations. But getting visitors to click on stuff is still not as easy as is made out, and with the amounts being paid for Adsense clicks you need an awful lot of visitors to make any serious money.

Indeed, lots of work is needed to get that traffic coming to your site. Ranking for well-searched keywords is the big challenge we all have to face, if you don’t want to go for PPC.
