The Lazy Beach Bum and Fata Morgana
Have you ever heard about Fata Morgana? Perhaps you’ve noticed, while driving on the motorway in hot summer days, that far away in front of you the road seems like wet, but as you get closer, you realize that the water just moved further away, so you can actually never reach it. Such illusions are called Fata Morgana.
You’ll ask me now “how does this relate to the beach bum I wanna be?” Well, it doesn’t necessarily.
It relates to you only if you recognize yourself in one of the following cases:
- You buy one new “make money online” ebook every week, but hardly ever finish reading any of them
- You spend 4-6 hours a day on internet marketing and “easy money on net” forums, chats, iRCs and similar places
- You never come up with your own ideas, you just leech the discussions and try to assimilate and copy what others are willing to share
- You think that learning is for nerds, while smart people turn into gold everything they touch, with barely any efforts
- You’ve tried everything from affiliate marketing to writing blog posts for money, but you never dug deeper into one of the possibilities of making money online
- You think that the SEO of a blog starts and ends with installing and activating the All in One SEO plugin (which is actually a great tool, but optimization is much more than that)
- You made yourself a religion in reading and commenting on your favorite guru’s blog, struggling to conquer a position in his Top Commenters sidebar spot
- You think that if you make yourself a habit in commenting on a dozen blogs on regular basis, you are doing link building for your blog
- You are sure that the only barrier in the way of your getting rich by doing nothing is a secret which big money making sharks have and won’t share with you (but you hope that some of them will spit out that golden nugget some day in a forum, or on a blog, and you want to be the first to read it).

The first secret of people who are successful and who make big money online is work. Those people will never rely on what they’ve read in a forum thread (if they ever read such things). They will spend hours, days, months, maybe years, in testing and researching the best methods of making their way to the top of the SERPs (search engine results pages), because it is on the SERPS where the big money online is, and they want to be there to grab it before others do.
What do you think the lazy beach bum did before he became a Beach Bum and made $237,000 from His Laptop? He invented and tested a system which proved to be working, he wrote an ebook about it, he set up an affiliate program to spread the word about his system, and which converts on a simple two boxes form submit, he promoted his program to affiliate networks… how long do you think it took him to bring his laziness business to this level, where one can see his affiliate banners on well known blogs in the online money making niche? He’s made this program available to you, so you can make two bucks from every lead you send him. How many leads have you sent to this guy?
If all day long he would have read forums and blogs, maybe he would have still ended up on that beach, but he would have been working at the bar, serving cold drinks to tourists.
