The Soap Opera of SBI Scam Review
SBI! stands for Site Build It! and it has been around for ages. Well, I found it in 2006. I didn’t buy it, so I can’t say how good or how bad it was for that time. However, I liked the SBI affiliate program giving a commission of $75 out of any sale. Nice, but I had other plans, so I wrote a few words about it, slapped in my affiliate link in a couple of places and soon forgot about it. Until last night, when Lissie wrote Site Build It SBI Scam Review, a post which was going to attract a lot of comments and launch a hot debate.
If you read Lissie’s post, don’t miss the comments, although it is probably going to take you an hour to go through all of them. Why so many Site Build It! disciples had to jump in and give Lissie such a busy night, I don’t know, but I suppose Griz is right when he says Site Build It makes money by selling the program, rather than by building SBI-based websites. Maybe some of the SBI sites also make money, I don’t know and honestly I don’t care. Even if it does, my opinion, now in 2009, is that the look and feel of the SBI websites is the one of the late 90’s, far too outdated for today’s standards. I feel the same towards the $300 per year per site which Site Build It members have to pay for using the system. I’m not denying their work. Probably some people manage to make money online from home with these websites. By looking at a few of them, it’s obvious they put a lot of work and time in writing content. Even if they don’t get the most out of their work, I don’t see anything wrong with that, if they are happy with the outcome.
However, I found the SBI members’ reaction at Lissie’s post quite weird. Do you use AdSense? Maybe you do. How many reviews of how bad money maker AdSense was have you read? I’ve read maybe hundreds. Did you ever feel the need to jump in and defend Google on all those negative reviews?

So, if you want to have some fun, you could go through the above list of articles and see for yourself what people think about this issue.
Until yesterday, I thought Site Build It! was just another tool which made possible that people like my grandmother have their website without having to learn too many things, a website reminding her of her youth years, something to keep her active and busy in these years when everything hurts more or less in the body. I went as far as giving away a free ebook by Ken Evoy to readers subscribing to this blog’s feed. The book is still there, but beware that every hyperlink in it contains my affiliate code. I tried to remove it, but it seems that’s not possible.
What I learned from that ebook was that one needed to have a system in order to set up a successful online business.
What I learned from the SBI members attitude was that systems like Site Build It!, which generate such cultish behaviours can be devastating for beginners who fall in their trap.
What do you think?

Hi
I can only think that those SBI owners that are happy with the product are trying to put the blog poster right on some of her points.
It’s freedom of speach.
From what I read, the reviewer, if she can be called that hasn’t done anything so basic as use SBI.
A bit like trying to review the performance of a car without having driven it.
Sorry,, I can’t take her seriously. She cfonfesses she’s not expert and not making any money, why would I want to listen to soemone who hasn’t been there and done that.
Further, she states that she just wants to tell the truth, when from what I read, the majority of it is bullshit based on no fact whatsoever.
I’m sure she will find someone else to pick on when her traffic serge dwindles.
Just my view.
Daz
Hi Darren,
Indeed, it’s freedom of speech. It was just too much passion from too many people, for such a detail like a review they didn’t agree with.
Actually, if I knew a car had 70 HP, I can expect a certain performance, so I’d go for a drive test only if I accepted the fact that it will never be safe in take overs.
I don’t think Lis was after the traffic. Actually I believe she was surprised too.
Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate that.
Hi
I’ve actually just taken another read through the comments.
I have to be honest and say although enthusiastic and somewhat evangelical the sbi customers may be, they certainly put up a more convincing and well balanced case than the ravings and down right rude comments from others.
I have no axe to grind one way or another, but from an innocent bystander’s point of view, I certainly know who convinces me the most in terms of credible and meaningful discussion.
Interesting stuff.
Daz
I thought you may want to watch this video about the topic. I think the point of view expressed there is quite a solid one.
Is Site Build It A Scam?
I’m a huge fan of Grizz and a lot of the other folks that follow him but when that is said I also feel that this is way out of proportion. What started as a review with two parts having an opinion has now turned into a mud fight and blog carnival and adds absolutely nothing valuable except for links to anyone participation (but I guess that has some value for the blog owners)
Mikael Rieck´s last blog post..How to Make a Fortune on EBay
Mud fights can be entertaining sometimes. Besides, as you said, the links do have value. It’s amusing to see the first page of Google when you search for Site Build It scam, or similar inquiries
Yes you have to hand it to everyone participating. It is a job well done.

First page G ranking– very cool!
Hey Max, it seems to be working better than Site Build It
That’s quite a list ! I stumbled it so maybe you will be inundated with stumblers ? Not sure as I don’t know how stumble works. GB
It very much depends on the luck. If 3-4 people stumble the article within the first minutes after posting, it may attract a lot of traffic and get our word about Site Build It out to many stumblers.
Simonne,
I agree with you about the drama. I did not agree so much with the way the post was written, nor did I agree with her views.
I have been a member of SBI and I did not leave with that bad of a taste in my mouth. But then again I was totally new to Internet Marketing and what did I know then.
I was just looking to make money online.
I was outraged however with the way threats were being thrown at Lis and I felt she needed the support to fend off these trolls.
It was also a great exercise on how to get sites ranked through the use of online networking with like minded people. I really seen the value that a group of people working together can alter one sites ability to make money online.
This really opened my eyes a lot as to working harder with more people in my niche to form business relationships to help each other out to achieve our common gols of making money online in what ever niches we work.
I finally understand how important it is to work together in business instead of working alone. It sure cuts down the time to gain rankings in Google. Working as a team is a win win situation especially to make money online. Being an isolater myself, this is going to be a huge step for me.

Hey Denise, thanks for stopping by!
Remember that our experiences make us who we are today. If you were new to internet marketing by that time, you probably learned a few things from Site Build It! I was only an affiliate and I can say that the materials they made available for free download to their affiliates made me realise that I needed a system in order to turn one-time achievements into permanent income streams. Luckily, I’m a very cheap bastard, so paying $300 per year for one site seemed like the end of the world to me.
However, now, in 2009, when there’s so much information available for free, and when hosting can be bought for as little as $2 per month, I think Site Build It is overpriced. And after seeing those comments on Lissie’s posts, I thought to lend her a helping hand, just because I could. Indeed, team work leads to great results, but choosing the right team is very important. By the way, if you ever need any help from my side, all you have to do is ask
that is realy good, and going to be better then other.

i think to does that sign-up with sbi have a reason to do so and also if the are happy with sbi offers they can also stop it,is not as if sbi is forcing the package down to this owners,
Sbi definitely have some successful customers and that is why they are still in business.
